Daiwa engineers have sought to eliminate unnecessarily heavy components and shapes without compromising on the toughness or the capacity of the spool. This totally new compact design with a more powerful Digigear gives our LT reels an unrivalled weight to power ratio.

TOUGH DIGIGEAR

Inspired by the Digigear, this tougher brother has been optimised in all respects: diameter, thickness, shape and size of the teeth. We have trialled and tested each detail in turn and refined the elements with surgical precision. The result is pure technical prowess in terms of toughness.

ALUMINIUM AIR SPOOL

We have re-designed the shape, size and thickness of this spool to produce an ultra-light version way ahead of its predecessors. Even lighter than our current ABS Air Spool, which fine-tunes the balance of the reel.

We’ve brought together multiple improvements down to the very finest detail of the spool build, the shaft, the discs, and the braking surface to maximise the benefits of ATD.

Mag Sealed
Waterproof - Zero Friction - Increased durability

MAGSEALED oil is a magnetic oil that uses aerospace technology to protect internal reel components and guarantee smooth rotation.

MAGSEALED technology is based on a magnetic oil developed by NASA. This liquid joint was originally used for the internal workings of hard drives – providing dustproofing but not waterproofing. Daiwa engineers took on the challenge of creating a waterproof oil, working to control the intensity of the magnetic force. This took hundreds of trials with adjustments down to micron level! The technology has been tried and tested on the water with the world’s top specialists in each discipline, and it has produced a demonstrable gain in the smoothness of rotation.

The highly technical Mag Sealed oil is stabilised in a magnetic field and as such must not be mixed with any other component, be it an oil, grease or solvent. Do not spray a releasing agent or lubricating oil on a reel with this technology.
Magsealed oil is held in place by magnetic force and does not degrade over time, thereby improving the smoothness and lifespan of the reel. After each session, you ideally want to rinse the reel with a gentle hose (without a booster) then dry it with a clean rag having spun the handle to shake off any excess water.

ATD Drag

The ATD boasts discs which have been impregnated with a specialist grease to optimise energy yield. This exceptionally high-quality product gives more grinding power at the start and offers a more stable and progressive drag. The risk of breaking off on the fight is kept to a minimum as the ATD adjusts to every phase of the fight: working faster and more progressively on the first run but offering a firmer hold for cranking power in the middle phase. It’s this adaptive feature that gives it its Automatic name.
Smoother, more controlled fights are guaranteed with the Daiwa ATD. Locking the knob is more accurate and the inner base of the spool fits better onto the shaft to reduce drag pulsing.

Air Rotor
Improved winding comfort

The Air Rotor stands out for its balance, toughness and sensitivity.

The arched profile and 15% weight reduction compared to standard rotors offers optimal winding smoothness and eliminates vibration thanks to the lowered centre of gravity.

Strength Tests
When pressure is applied to a rotor, standard models weaken at the points indicated in yellow and red while the Air Rotor spreads the load over its entire arched structure.

HardBodyz

The HardBodyz aluminium alloy components are stiffer than standard counterparts. Daiwa engineering guarantees ultra-precise and tough designs.

Cross Wrap

This technology cross wraps the line around the spool for optimised offloading on the cast. This is absolutely key to preventing tangles and linespin.

Infinite Anti Reverse

The new Infinite Anti Reverse system is activated with 4 times less force than a classic system.
Less than 2g is needed to engage the Real Stopper system which eliminates any handle movement, bringing sensitivity to the next level.

Silent Oscillation

The perfect tuning of the contact points between helicoid and straight teeth create an energy yield close to 99% and silent rotation. Daiwa gear trains offer superior winding smoothness. 

Twist Buster II

The TB2 pickup roller has been developed by Daiwa and precision tooled to guarantee optimal line lay. The system reduces the risks of linespin on the retrieve by 90%.

ABS II

In contrast to classic cylindrical spool designs, ABS spools are tapered to limit the risks of tangling on the cast. What’s more, the lip reduces friction to boost casting distance. The new ABSII design has been optimised to let you reach record distances on the cast.

Double Infinite Anti-Reverse

A mechanical anti reverse reinforces the standard infinite reverse for heavy fishing.
